Ambassador Baaro was appointed as Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Nations and opened for the first time, Kiribati’s Permanent Mission to the U.N. in 2013. She is an accomplished leader who has spearheaded major reforms across many areas of public service in Kiribati. She has led the formulation of national positions on major regional and international issues for Kiribati and other Pacific Island nations for nearly two decades. She is a graduate of the University of the South Pacific, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Administration and Sociology. She earned her Master of Arts Degree in International Communication at American University, in Washington D.C.
